Herne gets practicing for his Glastonbury debut

Hanky Panky resident DJ Herne is spending the weekend practicing his sets for appearances in the Silent Disco and the Rbbit Hole areas.

He hasn’t long to get the set’s nailed as the Hanky Panky crew embark to the Glastonbury festival site on Saturday 20th June to help as crew with the set up of the IDSpiral and Rabbit Hole tents.

Herne is now adding digital DJ’ing via an Apple Macbook and Native Instrument’s might Traktor Scratch software.  Herne has used the digital medium in his sets since buying the Pioneer CDJ500Mk1 in 1995, the first DJ CD player to incorporate a jog wheel (since copied on all DJ CD players).

Traktor Scratch opens up the horizon for a DJ to soar into new airspace, with the ablity to seemlessly extend tracks with loops, that are time synced into the mix.   Its now easier to create mash-ups and the ablity to handle digital files as vinyl (with the timecoded vinyl) is a magic Merlin would have been proud of.

Hanky Panky DJ’s down in the Rabbit Hole

Catch Hanky Panky DJ’ spinning their sonic threads into the weft of the Glastonbury ether this summer 2009.  We are stoked to get to play at the Mothership Festival.  The dj’s will be on at some point in the new area of the festival, The Park. Curated by Emily Eavis, daughter of the festival’s founder Michael, the Park area showcases a different vibe.  Hanky Panky dj’s will be in attendance and fancy dress in the Rabbit Hole Tent.  If you answer the riddle and get the carrot you can enter the warren and hear us play.

Party Plans for Summer 2009

After the quietest year since we formed back in 1997, Hanky Panky will be springing into life in 2009. Our goal of cracking into the festival scene is getting under way in fine style. We will be working with Over The Moon Tents, Captain Scarlett Lighting and The Rabbit Hole at this years Glastonbury and Glade festivals.  Yee har, what a buzz to play at these great events.  Glastonbury has been on the DJ venue Wanted list since the start of this madcap journey.

Its mad to play in The Rabbit Hole area as we did a series of outdoor parties around 2000 that had a theme of following the White Rabbit (a la Alice In Wonderland) and punters had to follow the white rabbit signs to the party.  Little did we know the rabbitt would lead us a merry jig all the way to the Mothership Festival, Glastonbury.  Can’t wait.

To celebrate we are getting the website updated with new music. herne has uploaded a trancey March 2009 mix into the online Ipod.  The Jester has a new Xone mix (slurp)  to show off his new tunes with. A mix due imminently (that’s probably 2012 then knowing him).

Trystonbury 2008

Here is a link to pictures of this years mini-festival in Windsor.  After the deluge of rain on Friday night, which tried to wash us off the hill, we pulled out all the stops and had the best one yet. Roll on next years.
